That's pretty nice, well struck reverse for a 24D.

I saw you ordered some VERDI-CARE, take your time with it and only use it when absolutely necessary. When you're dealing with an old, original condition collection - don't ahead of yourself trying to conserve coins. Once you alter an original surface, there's no going back.

I recommend you do no conservation to this coin. I really like the black gunk in the devices, demonstrates the originality - because the reverse color difference is questionable. However, we got a lot of odd planchets in the 20's that produced many woody's. I can see a trace of a wood grain pattern on the obverse. I think this just another strange woody made cooler by being one of my fav coins in the series - I love 24D's. They are more scarce than people realize.

Nice-looking 1924-D!

This.

I grew up in Denver, and pulled a few thousand pre-war Denver Lincolns out of change in our family store during the 1960s and early 1970s. Even in those years, the 1924-D was as hard to find as 1922-D and almost as hard as 1914-D, and all three dates were usually AG/G even back then. By comparison, 1911-D to 1913-D were scarce, but not anywhere as hard to find as the other three. (For some reason, the 1916-D was remarkably common.) Remember, these coins were only 40-ish years old then.

They are also getting more expensive to win at auction,
