Interesting reverse rim, similar to the rim on the 1999 Georgia I posted earlier today but more extreme.

I agree, interesting... but what causes this? Very slight die misalignment? ... Obverse looks pretty normal.

I think the clue is the crack in the rim area, that crack indicates a worn die, so maybe pieces fell off when struck? However, if that was the case then why rim Cuds were not produced in blank areas? Any other ideas on this?
