I found this 2000 New Hampshire State Quarter and it has 3 colors on the edge instead of the usual 2 colors. Plus the middle color is indented about 1 1/2 millimeters into the coin. I don't have a scale right now to check the weight. But it's definitely an error of some kind. Does anyone know or have an idea as to what or why this quarter has an unusual edge

Not an error, it is damage.
It has been briefly dipped in acid.
Copper is softer than nickel and will disintegrate faster.
We see this from time to time on the forum.

Are those holes drilled into the rim on the blurry pictures?
