Came across this Three Cent, and decided to purchase it. I gave it a acetone bath, then into a air-tite. Love Civil War era coins. Enjoy the wewkend!

Looks proof. You don't see business strike 65s with that kind of sharp strike,

With a mintage of only about 500 coins, the 1865 proof is one of the rarest in the series. With such a low mintage, every proof coin exhibits fully struck reverse roman numerals. You can see some weakness on them here so that rules out a proof strike. Despite the weakness, the coin is well struck overall and appears to have possibly been polished.

1865 nickel Three Cent pieces can be found sharply struck with ease. This example shows clear weakness on the reverse numerals, but maintains significant detail overall. Lovely!
