Hey guys, I've spent the rainy Derby weekend inside sorting through a little more than 1000 wheat pennies and this is my favorite...and I even found a 1909 VDB but this 1916-S with the tiger like stripes toning gives it a super nice look! My question is what's it worth in this condition? I've bought the 2026 Red Book and I don't know where to price it on this condition?

Looks to be in the VF range. The streakiness could be the result of an attempted cleaning or environmental effects.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

I'll say VF for the grade. As for value, 18 dollars. The source I used is not allowed on CCF, so I can't post the link.

I believe the CCF moderators are fans of NumisMedia. I find it to have more sensible prices than Red Book, and ones that match ebay sold prices better, at least for Jefferson nickels.

E&V, I know the site to which you refer. I frequent it too as I suspect many other members do as well. I wonder why it is not allowed on this site. After all, CCF allows us to link to ebay and other sources. Why not this one? That site has good information especially for identifying varieties.

I'd give it a solid F15 - and go in the area of 5$

i think NM is update more frequently which would be the reason its more aligned with current prices whereas RedBook is only once a year.

obv F15, the reverse will hold this one to F12 imo

I'm thinking mid F. Value in the range of $4 - $6, perhaps. Would like to view this example in-hand--could be a subtle obverse woody.

First,

I'm at F-12 Details because of the two gouges diagonally from Lincoln's beard SE to the rim and the multiple scratches in the field to the right of Lincoln's face. Still, not a bad find hunting through Wheat cents!
