I've been cataloging my small dollar coins into spreadsheets and wanted to know minting numbers of each. In looking for that information I ran across several sites that showed numbers for the Sacagawea dollars, all years and all(?) mint marks. https://coinmintages.com/sacagawea-...ars-mintage/ Note that all the S, San Francisco mintage, numbers are proofs.
So I found a 2008 S in a bank roll and am curious about if it started life as a proof?
Were regular S coins minted? If so, how many were minted?

That did start as a proof dollar but has found its way into
circulation. It is now known as an imparted proof.

It's an impaired proof. It was broken out of a proof set and was put into circulation.

agreed, this is still a proof strike, but when a proof finds it's way into circulation we call them 'impaired'

Once a proof coin, always a proof coin.
A proof coin is minted on a specially prepared planchet and struck at least twice.

Thanks guys. That answers my question and more. I had no idea what a proof coin that was in circulation was called.
It does look pretty "impaired" now.
