So I found 2 89's today with some odd extra thickness in the lettering on the rev. I have checked Vista/Coppercoins/Wexler even Lincoln Cent resource. Probably nothing but I am trying to not over look something that may be a DDR as I still struggle Identifying unless its obvious
This may be nothing but why if it is so thick? I don't see anything on to match On design Varieties either.
FG does look a little bit thick. There's also some Die Deterioration and Split Plating going on as well. Will be interesting to see what the others say.
So Reason Why I asking on these is I have 2 bucket full of 82 and 83 and have not been able to truly tell which one may be small DDR vs phase 3 which is harder to see at times. Now on the 82 Obv I am Confident to tell but when it comes to the Rev I just keep sorting and resorting them
Plated question if your sill around. Can some un-plated coins show traces of copper? From what I researched I still dont understand as I don see chemical traces but see some spots of copper.
I'm still here, so I'll answer your question. Some Lincoln cents can be partially unplated and have some of the copper plating showing. That error would be called Incomplete Plating. https://www.error-ref.com/incomplete_plating/
