Picked from an ebay auction. Wexler describes a strongly doubled working hub, resulting in numerous CONECA DDR entries. This specific quarter is DDR-014, Stage C.

Wexler 1941 25¢ WWHR-001
Variety Vista 1941 25¢ DDR-014

So are you considering it a doubled working hub or the more attractive doubled die?

Nice find BM. Generally, I'm not great at determining which stage but.... the crack across the bust extends all the way into the queue. Could it be stage D?

It does, but the crack in the hair hasn't yet crept out into the field towards the TY. I guess it's between C and D. The die has all the markers of C; it has most, but not all, the markers for D.

My serious answer to the question of doubled hub vs. doubled die: if I ever decided to resell the coin, I would spell it out the way I did above. It's above my level of expertise to reconcile Wexler pros and CONECA pros. My thought is that the Wexler team is probably right, but the work hasn't been done to attribute all the similar CONECA DDRs to a single doubled working hub.

That is a very good answer.
