oh well, the market will correct itself. The bidder's decision is the bidder's decision. No one else's. If he thinks it's worth it, he can go ahead and buy it. No one is telling you what to do, and certainly you're not telling him what to do.
But I agree with biokemist. The bubble will burst, and sadly those who spent and are angry because of that will leave the hobby, but then again it was their own choice, and thus their own responsibility.

I got a couple of boxes of Beanie Babies that I sell for a dollar apiece. Paid five bucks apiece for them. Oh well. Free market Capitalism is what it is. Just think if you bought a new house in South Orange County, California in 2006. You have probably lost at least $500,000 as of today, if not more. The seller made out, but then lost if they rebought something else. I lost $60,000 on one house and $30,000 on another house. But I have also made hundreds of thousands on other houses. The market for any given product will eventually equalize. Congrats to those that make a nice profit. Sorry to those that lose money. For us Coin Collectors who hold long term, and seldom if ever sell, we just enjoy the show!
I will be buying TWO uncirculated sets, one to hold and one to break apart for my sets.

I agree that the current craze over 2009 coins won't last long term. These new coins won't be that rare in the long run, and good quality versions of them will be common a long time from now due to the hype. Think about it, when was the last time in history this many people went nuts about hoarding rolls upon rolls of brand new cents and at the same time banks have no need to put any new ones into circulation?
However, the laws of supply and demand are working just as they always do. These new coins are actually pretty rare right NOW. Its hard to get ahold of them. There's many people out there that really want these coins NOW and aren't patient enough to wait for the supply to increase, so in order to get them NOW they're willing to pay a premium for them. This premium ($40 for a new dime?) isn't worth it for most of us, but it is for a few out there.
If somebody is telling lies in order to sell items at this kind of premium then yes, its bad. But if they're just offering a product that a few people are currently willing to pay ridiculous prices for, then they're just being good capitalists and taking advantage of some crazy supply/demand curves.
The rest of us will just be patient and add these coins to our collections when the prices come down to our "acceptable" levels.

The Owner of the first 2009 dime on ebay has relisted due to nonpayment! I really didn't think the winner was going to pay up! I think I made a comment in an earlier post. If you recall the winning bid was $49.02! http://cgi.ebay.com/2009-P-Roosevel...ay_W0QQitemZ a href= https://www.coincommunity.com/go/link.asp?target=https://www.ebay.com/itm/-/260421987036 target= _blank rel= nofollow 260421987036 /a QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCoins_US_Individual?hash=item3ca25c2adc&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72:1205%7C66:2%7C65:12%7C39:1%7C240:1318%7C301:0%7C293:1%7C294:50 The saga continues!

Funny you spotted that one too. I am watching that dime myself. Some people are finding 2009 dimes in rolls and change. I think when I hear of nickels being found the same way, I will go buy a couple boxes from the bank.

Just wondering if it's worth the trouble to track down bank rolls of Unc.2009 dimes and nickels? John1
This basically depends on your age. I mean a roll of almost any coin will be just a roll of coins for a long, long time. If your young enough, eventually whatever you collect will be worth something, maybe. More than likely not worth the storage though. As an example back in the 70's myself and a freind started to collect those Bicentennial Quarters. Roll after roll of them. He ended up with a few thousand dollars worth. I had several hundred dollars worth. Not long ago we both attempted to sell them at coin stores, coin shows, on line, etc. At one coin show a dealer said $0.24 each as a kind of this is what they are worth statement. They all ended up in a banks counting machine. Sure could have used the interest on that money if placed there back in the 70's. You just never know.
