Made it to coin show today and purchased new Lincoln cents. Got both P&D of Log Cabin & Rail Splitter cents.

I am totally disappointed with the new coins. I think it's the lack of relief in the designs. I remember getting the new Lincoln Memorials in 1959. To me they were very impressive. So maybe it's a case of "in my day .........."

What is the opinion of other members?

Wow! Good memory you have tepritts!

The 1959 LMC were 95% copper and that seems to give them a more rich appearance IMO. I never have taken to Zincolns until this year with the new designs and I agree that the Log Cabin leaves something to be desired. I do think the Rail Splitter design is much better.

I'm hoping the bronze cents in the proof & mint sets are better quality. They'll be heavier if nothing else.

As an opinion on the first, log cabin, reverses, I pre-graded a roll of each of the mint offerings (lp-1 from of the mint) results were 10 phillys and 6 denver which I believed would grade at least ms-66 (two of them hoped for 67). the results from NGC...all were 66 except one denver at 65. good results? not really as for my opinion.

I just found my first LP2 in circulation while on business in San Antonio! It is kind of spotted like many of the LP 1's
