I was thinking about buying this 1942 Lincoln Cent raw coin and would like to get an opinion on it before pulling the trigger. Any red flags about it?

Won't comment on grade ( I still have some work to do in that area). But I do see a possibility of a DDR on this coin epu and first dot look promising. But pitcher quality isn't that great.

I'll say MS-64 for the grade. Nice coin! Nothing wrong with it. I'd buy it. Also, the EPU on the reverse could be a DDR.

Thanks all. I think I've been watching too many YT videos on cleaned coins that I've become leery of everything..lol I bought it, at least he posts pics of the actual coin. I hate buying something like that especially a copper coin from a stock photo.

No issues with the 1942. It's a nice common date coin in low MS state.

The '42 piece looks quite decent. Would need better, closer-in pics to comment on DDR possibilities.

i agree with MS64RD. its not going to make 65 with the marks on the shoulder and the amount of small marks in the center of the reverse. still overall a nice coin just dont overpay for it as these are readily available in higher grades. for me it would be not more than $5. MS65RD raw sell for about $6

I would personally hold out to find a fully-struck example if this is going into a long term collection. You should be able to find a high grade example without weakness in the O of ONE and PLU of PLURIBUS.

No issues, looks like a normal MS red example.

I agree that the first dot on reverse looks elongated.

Epic fail! Received the coin today, has black marks on the lower obverse and reverse. It is the same coin just his photos were doctored in some way. Here is the side by side photos of his ad and my photo. Sorry it was in a 2x2 flip so there is some glare from the plastic. I messaged the seller asking to return or refund due to his misrepresentation of the actual coin even though he doesn't accept returns. He first said to return the coin for refund then said he will just refund and to keep the coin. I did receive a refund, but I won't be buying from him again.

That's a bummer, but at least you were able to get your money back. I hate when sellers doctor their coin images.

Wow - that is a horrible misrepresentation of the actual coin.
Pleased you received a refund.
What on-line source did you purchase the coin from?
