I don't recall seeing (m)any Morgan lowballs on here, and this is one that I considered a toss-up. Let me know what you guys think.

Oooooo that's a close one for sure. The central devices have notable relief intact, but the wear cannot travel much further since the date and mintmark are nearly erased. I vote PO-1.

How do you know it is 1897-O and not 1887-O?

I'm saying it is ungradeable because the date is not conclusive.
If the date can be verified positively, then I will say PO-1

@numismatic student the top loop of the 8 is slightly wider than that of the 9. To be honest, I thought it was an 1887 until I busted out the old microscope. That was still closer than the seller (M. Barr Coins) who had it listed as a "1907 Morgan" which gave me a chuckle because they probably sell more coins in a day than I do in a year.

I'm not so sure that is 1897, IMO. Do an overlay with the known verities, if one matches up nicely to the bits of date you have left, then you'd have a little more proof.

@adam126402 as much fun as that sounds, I was fairly confident when I submitted it and PCGS graded it as an 1897-O. Here's a microscope pic that is definitely not of a screen:

The clincher for me was the inner loop of the 9 as it is pretty clearly more narrow than the 8. I'm grateful for everyone's input, I will reveal the grade tomorrow. Have a good night all.
