I saw a posting on ebay for a 1858 LL Flying Eagle for a "Buy it Now" price of $49. After looking at the coin online, I noticed all of the attributes of a the 1858/7 overdate and so I bought the coin. I got the coin today and sure enough it is the cherished overdate for this series. The reverse die marker is there, but a little difficult to see. I have a couple of these in my collection and I am always happy to find one and add it to my album.
Kinda looks like the remnant of the 7 above the last 8. The die chip above the first 8 could have been involved in the damage. But what is the reverse die marker you speak of?
