I found this odd ball in a bank roll of small dollars. Is it anything special or just someone's idea of a prank. When I first saw it I thought "proof", but those are S mint, not D, sooooooo?
As always, your expert thoughts and opinions are welcome.

The first picture Is the oddball on top by a "normal" 2007 D Washington.

Looks like some kind of environmental toning.

Jeez, I don't know. It was either one of the first coins off new dies (Proof Like) or someone was practicing their precise polishing skills?. At least it isn't an "elongated ray" variety.

From an internet article:

"Just 46 prooflike 2007 D George Washington Dollars have every been certified and 11 in top grade MS66 - a number that's unlikely to change substantially in the coming years."

Worth putting in a 2x2 and keeping finger prints off of it until further investigation is done.

nice toning on this dollar - also it could have been struck on a fresh new die to give it this nice 'proof like' appearance.

Perhaps you should give it an acetone rinse to remove the fingerprints.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

But I could agree with a "Gold Plated" coin.........
