So...I have a coin that I am 90% sure is a small date. It was in a US Mint set, sealed in the Cello pack since 1970.
I decided that it would make sense to pull it from the Cello and send to PCGS for grading.
When I removed it to put it in the Mylar, I was surprised to see a black corrosive looking fingerprint on the edge at 5 o'clock that is barely seeping over the rim of obverse side that was not apparent when it was still in Cello.
Is this a lost cause, and I should bother sending to PCGS. I would not want to pay or use a voucher to get a Damaged, or environmental grade back?
Also, how many of you have experienced that...and Fingerprint on a Uncirculated coin? I guess the process had a human putting them in the packs...and I guess those humans were not where white gloves back in the 70s
