I *finally* found a Buffalo nickel, but I'm honestly confused by it. The date and other features are missing - which, from I understand, negates its potential value (right?). But it also has a large Cud on the reverse - which, from I understand, adds value...? So do they cancel each other out?

Reverse looks more like solder than A Cud....I'm thinking this was a piece of jewelry at some time.

Well, on the bright side it's still worth at least 5¢.

Very true, and I've DEFINITELY found worse things hidden within coin rolls, LOL!

Really cool to find a Buffalo nickel these days, I agree with the others that it looks like solder, one of the clues is the different metal color than the Buffalo nickel itself, the solder has a more silver color. While worn, the date has enough there to make out it is 1929 and no mint mark so it is minted in Philadelphia.
