EGYPT, Alexandria. Galba. AD 68-69. BI Tetradrachm (25mm, 13.28 g, 1h). Dated RY 1 (AD 68). Laureate head right; L A (date) below chin / EΛEY ΘEPIA, Eleutheria standing left, leaning on column, holding wreath and scepter. Köln 220-1; Dattari (Savio) 306; K&G 17.4; RPC I 5327; Emmett 172.1. VF.

@mike, are you looking for opinions on the price, grade, authenticity, or some of each? In a quick search, I'm seeing 18 others listed on acsearch, but this one seems to be in better than average condition.

Hmm. The date looks like LB = year 2 to me, which is scarcer IIRC?

Good catch about the mis-labelled date @j1m. Yes, based on the number of coins posted to acsearch, it looks to me like LA is more common than LB.

Actually now that I've looked up the dates, it's a bit strange that year 1 is more common; Galba's reign lasted from early June AD 68 to mid-January AD 69, so with the Alexandria new year being at the end of August, that leaves slightly under three months for year 1 and about four and a half for year 2, so logically year 2 should be about 1.6 times more common.

(I'm guessing the divergence is because there was a bump in production at the start of his reign.)
