Hello, everyone!
I have this coin. I was not expecting to see what I am seeing. Not sure if this is a real variety or just a VERY unfortunate but convincing bit of corrosion?
Thank you in advance!
Marci

To CCF! What you're seeing is staining/corrosion and Pareidolia.

I do know that term. And, I brushed it off completely at first.. but, no matter how I looked, the D would not disappear, so I decided to ask, just in case. Would it be offensive if I put one more close-up of it on here?

Looks like a small zinc blister that burst...appears to look like a D.

with Greasy Fingers.
Just a small plating blister that has burst.
If it was a variety, there would be hundreds of thousands
of them minted and would have been discovered by now.
