I believe that this 1689 Zeeland 2 Daalders is an overdate but not sure if it is an 89 over 87 or 89 over 88

https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces170931.html

Any thoughts on which it is? My guess is 89 over 88

And what are some good references on gradeing coins like this? I (like many I am sure ) struggle with coins when the strike is so irregular

Thanks

In the pics, the surfaces appear to look a bit 'pasty'.
The metal around the base of the 8 and the tail of the 9 may be disturbed. caused by re cutting of the date,
OR date alteration on the coin itself.

Don't know enough about this series to a reliable comment.
If I was considering to buy, I would need to look at it personally under a 10X glass in good lighting conditions.

My (very old) catalog does list a 1689/88 overdate.

Have you weighed this coin? It should be 31.76 grams.

I don't know enough to grade this coin accurately, but it is pretty worn.

I would guess also 1689/8, but that's only due the "thing" inside the 9..
According my Dutch catalog there is a total mintage of 619.171 coins for that year..
Including the 1689/87 & 1689/88. In the VG grade they are al 3 valued €75,-
