Ran across this coin in a relatives collection, looks cleaned and damaged and possibly seeing a 5 as the last date. Just wondering what could have caused this, damage, grease filled? Have not looked into error coins too much but thought this would be a good place to start.

A Grease Filled Die issue would be my guess.

1854 would be my guess, and likely a Grease Filled Die unless there are tooling marks in hand that would point to an intentional removal.
