I initially thought I had 2 Black Beauty nickels. After further research I discovered that only nickels minted in 1958/1959 in Philadelphia are considered Black Beauty nickels. So are these nickels environmentally damaged and only worth face value? I thought I had a lucky break when I got these in change together!

I am completely new to coin collecting and am very happy to find this community.

So are these nickels environmentally damaged

Yes. I have found nickels while gardening and they look just like that.

only worth face value?

Unfortunately yes. But keep looking!

You have evaluated these correctly. They are indeed environmentally damaged coins with no numismatic premium.

To CCF! They're both environmentally damaged and worth face value.

Thank You everyone!!
I'm new, but learning (slowly!) all the time. It's fun to look through everyone's posts to see something which I may have, or may see in the future.
