I wonder what fantasy world that guy came from. Or what he's been smoking. Further, no pics, no description, no provenance, no nuthin'. You'd think for $195Ks, he'd at least state if it passed the magnet test and spend 15 cents for a second pic.

When I was in second grade (1967) another kid in my class had a Mercury dime he was spending for his milk for our snack. I asked, and traded him my clad roosie for it (he was going to spend it). I went home, and my mother bought a whitman album for me. As we all know minages are below the slots- I was aghast- I thought the mintage firure was the coin's worth until my mother corrected me. That's also how I got my start in numismatics. Don Perhaps this guy saw a mintage figure of 195k for steel cents!

But he's specifically stating that it is a 1983 not '43 and that the coin has not been altered. With 0 feedback and this being the only coin he's selling....well, you be the judge.

Hi Susan, I was attempting a tongue in cheek remark to explain the inexplicable- which clearly failed I have no idea what this seller is thinking. Sure, I'll write a check $150k, send it to someone with no feedback, for an item with no photo, no explanation, etc... There I go again- can't keep a straight face concerning this item! Don

Don't blame you....neither can I. Fortunately, as long as he keeps trying to get this obscene amount of money for it, it won't sell and no one will be hurt.

Well this seller claims that it is not the 1943. Of course the claims of unique are a bit much, but lets for sake of arguement say it is a wrong planchet. This would give the possibility of something other than the zinc-copper as normal. However, even if wrong planchet, it would not be worth anywhere near his asking price. If this seller would authenticate the coin (if it were real), he would make some money. Now all he gets is the recognition of being an *&^%$.

I just sent the seller a note asking him if he had considered having the coin authenticated and slabbed, that he wouldn't be able to sell it (especially at anything with three or more zeros after the $ sign) until it was, and if he had any photos of the cent. He has no other auctions listed. I am going to presume at this point he is not a coin collector. If he answers, I'll post to the group.
