Now that I got your attention with the headline, I am thinking of collecting the godless dollars.

The only problem is I do not know which ones are the godless ones.

Is there a list somewhere?

The so-called "godless dollars" are not, of course, actually godless - they simply moved the "In God we trust" motto to the edge, where it's harder to see. So the only truly "godless" dollars out there are mint errors, the tiny proportion of those specific coins which managed to somehow skip the edge-lettering step completely.

The only golden dollar types which have IGWT on the edge are the Presidential dollars issued in 2007 and 2008 - the first eight Presidents, Washington though to Van Buren. From 2009 (number 9) onwards, they incorporated IGWT into the obverse, in reaction against the "these coins are godless so you should boycott them" myth.

For a full list of which presidents were issued in which year, and mintages for each type. check the CCF Coin Facts page for Presidential dollars: https://www.coincommunity.com/us_do...idential.asp

If you are interested, there is UK florin that was minted in 1849 that is called the Godless type. since there was no 'D.G.' or Dei Gratia (meaning 'by the Grace of God').

This is just one person's opinion, but that's where it should be. Instead of things that define the coin like Mint Mark and year.
