I think the FG initials is just showing Die Deterioration Doubling. The obverse and reverse is showing Die Deterioration.

Definitely DDD going on - wasn't sure if the bottom of the G seemed to be out from under the top of the G enough to negate deterioration possibility

agreed, this cent was struck by a very worn die, as evidenced by the DDD on the reverse and the Ridge Ring on the obverse.

Think I'm seeing the difference (most of the time) between DDD/MD and true doubling, but some of these totally confuse me.
