I was bidding on some ebay auctions at Bubba Sully's, and this 1937 cent caught my eye. The date and Liberty seem unusually thick. Unfortunately, I wasn't $6 curious about the coin. Is this an extra thickness doubled die? I couldn't match it conclusively to anything on Copper Coins or the other sites.

It could be a DDO. Liberty has the extra thickness at the bottom.

To me, it looks like WDDO-001. It definitely has the die dot markers for it.

Yeah, you're right, the die dot is a match. I was in a hurry, and I didn't read the marker notes. I can't see any doubling on the right side of the 9 and 7, but that could be die wear or camera position.

Oh well. If there had been enough time, I would have posted it here. Hopefully whoever bought it knows that it's a minor DDO.

The seller's photos definitely were tough on that coin, with way too much glare. I wouldn't have noticed the DDO by just seeing these photos in a sale listing. Even with your note on the thick date, it still took a while to try to match it, and I'm still not 100% on that ID.

Yeah, well, lots of spilled milk on that round of auctions. I got smoked on essentially all the Mercury dimes that I wanted. Bubba Sully's auctions seem reasonably well attended, so it's hard to abscond with a lucky pick. I would love to know where he acquired so many uncirculated WW-II era Mercury dimes with full bands. I know that the photo glare can hide many flaws, but the coins that I have purchased in the past have been top notch.
