I've come across the exact same coin (same PCGS cert number) advertised through different sellers and at different prices. Is there a way to know who the true owner is?
Seems, it should be disclosed if the dealer advertising it doesn't actually own it.

Does the coin in the slab look identical in the two listings? Scammers frequently just steal listing photos from current and past legitimate listings.
If the two coins don't look the same, then the slab might be fake.

Not only do the coins look identical but they have cac stickers, so would have to also be faked.

Any chance that you could post links?

It often happens with higher-end material that two dealers split a purchase. Both advertise it for sale and the selling dealer splits the take with the other dealer. Both might list it on ebay, but only one will have it in their case at a show...

I have seen partnerships between dealers where they have the same coin listed in their respective websites. If fact, I bought a very rare and very expensive coin that was listed in multiple places. Took some investigating to find out which dealer actually had the coin in their inventory. I only wanted to negotiate with the actual owner and not an additional party as the deal had more flexibility.

Quote: Any chance that you could post links? This. Would greatly help to figure whether this is a legit dual-listing or a flat-out scam.

Several years ago I bought my most expensive coin from Greg Hannigan and I think Bob Grellman was the co-owner. They bought it at an EAC Auction and listed it on ebay.

I'm not going to post the coin because I am considering buying it and don't want any competition. However, I don't know who to negotiate with, Perhaps both sellers?

Quote: I'm not going to post the coin because I am considering buying it and don't want any competition. That is fair. Quote: However, I don't know who to negotiate with, Perhaps both sellers? I would try both, see who goes lower. They probably have a side bet. Whoever sells the fewest of their shared coins has to buy the other dinner.

Why don't you contact the most reputable one and ask him why this coin is listed on more than one place? He may give you the perfect response.

After the closing of the sale (if you decide to buy it) can you then post up the link from both sellers?
