You guys are going to think I am nuts but while looking for the extra V on a 2023 Lincoln Cent I noticed what looks like a faint extra VBD a little to the right and slightly elevated from the normal one. The spacing and size appear the same as the original. It is not super clear and my cheap elikliv microscope has its limitations but thought I would present this for inspection by people who know way more than I do. The V looks like maybe one V on top of another V. I don't know if this is anything or not. Thanks for looking. Probably my vivid imagination. Edited by FsdWarp10 08/13/2025 12:22 am

I'm thinking it's just Pareidolia. Did you check the reverse for a DDR? Not sure if it's the pictures or not, but the LB initials look thicker than normal.

Well, I'm with E&V on this one with the Pareidolia theory. If you look, the part of the V is the same as the other lines on the cent. The rest is just coincidence whether it be stains or nicks.

Thanks guys. I ended up putting some side light on it and it made it look way different and confirmed your diagnosis. E&V thanks for noticing the possible DDR, I will check it out.

Interesting find, I can see it, too. But I agree it is just the mind. It is only a cent, so keep it, label it for fun, a reminder, etc.

Looks like WDDR-002 to me. Match the die markers if you can.

I hate to break the bad news but I din't think it is. The bottoms of the letters are not thicker and the E's have the same thickness top and bottom. The E's in the DDO have a thin top and a thick bottom. Once again - what I think you are calling split serifs is just the result of Die Deterioration -

No problems here! I really appreciate the education. I thought if you saw split serifs that would make it a DDO. Now I know that can be caused by Die Deterioration as well.

Quote: May I ask what is "OP" ? Don't worry it isn't bad! It means "Original Poster" - the person that started the topic/thread.
