OK, I'm hoping to get some insight into the mental processes of those who spend up on bulk pennies. Every month I see auction lots go for well above the scrap metal value. Now the kicker is, the lots are submitted by dealers, who, if you go to their tables, have albums full of pennies including key dates and varieties. There ain't no way those bulk pennies haven't been picked over by the dealer and probably many collectors before that so would not be expecting to get any valuable coins out of the auction lots. Soooo.... why do bidders pay good money for picked over bulk lots?
