I travel too much in the summer to really post much, but figured I'd put something up since I'm around for a few days. One of the toughest Lincoln Cent cherrypicks is the 1951-D FS-101. While it's honestly a strong DDO, it's really tough to see unless the photos are really clear. So I've needed one of these in a top grade for a while, and finally nailed one. Paid $30 including shipping, but will need to cross it over for my PCGS registry. 1951-D Lincoln Wheat cent doubled die - DDO-001, FS-101 For fun, here is the original seller's image at full resolution.

It was that blurry forehead marker in the seller's pic that convinced me to buy the coin. Yes the R and U of TRUST looked right, but the marker sealed it. It's more obvious on my full-coin pic, but notice how difficult the doubling is to see in my pic even though it's more clear than the seller's image.

Do you have a list handy of the most obvious DDO-1 die markers lol?

From your pictures it is easy to see but from the sellers pictures there is no way I would have spotted this great pick. And congratulations

Wow - excellent cherry pick TB. It's a beautiful looking coin as well as a DDO-1. Quote: I travel too much in the summer to really post much I was wondering what happened to you - glad you are well.
Take a look at my other hobby ... http://www.jk-dk.art

Another doubled die I was unfamiliar with. Nice pick! Knowing the pups is key and obviously paid off in this instance.

Awesome pick TropicalBats, that is a great looking DDO and coin, and great to see your posts again. I was afraid the bats had netted you this time.

Thanks all! And no, the bats haven't carried me away yet, but it's been a sporty summer. Recently back from climbing Mt. Washington in New Hampshire, base to summit, off trail, carrying 60 pound packs with long ropes and rappelling gear while trying to find a lost bat cave. Failed. Costa Rica was a blast and caught very cool bats. Vacation was Iceland. Done four trips to Virginia and two work projects in PA. I'm supposed to be retired! I leave in a couple days to teach bats at Mammoth Cave. Come by on August 30 for Bat Day and you'll get to see live bats in the evening up close.
