I saw this rather poorly photographed coin on
ebay and took a chance on it - £17 was the winning bid. It's a little stained in places but the strike is pretty good and the flan is full and it's well centred.
Turns out the legends are
EDWAR' ANGL' DNS hyB
VILL AOVI CAS TRI
making it a penny from the scarcer Newcastle mint from 1302-1310 (Type 10a).
The numista reference seems to be N.272530 but that is really for a generic Type 10a/b from any mint reference. That particular section could benefit from expansion at some stage.
