Any info would be greatly appreciated. Too much time spent researching already. My guess is a Retained Cud hammer die, but what do I know. And I couldn't tell you if its worth $2 or $200. Like I said, I couldn't find much info out regarding this type of error or pricing. Great forum, new member, first post and thank you to everyone who makes it possible.

Please do not post pictures of your scope - they are always blurry and add little value.

Can you show us full coin images, both sides? Then we can help.

Welcome.

This looks more like it might be a lamination issue that happened to be near the rim.
The recessed line parallel to the rim seems ragged and not what we'd expect to see on a Cud.
Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups.
We need to consume them regularly to thrive and grow.

As per posting instructions, do not use photos from scope, they are too pixilated to see fine detail.

Your cent is not a Cud, it is either a lamination or damage that has caused the rim to fold over.

My guess is a Retained Cud hammer die,

I'm not sure if 100% but Wheat cents were struck with the obverse die being the hammer die.

Hmmm.......I eat my PMD words
Strange one - don't know where that much metal would come from other than some type of die break/chip.

Maybe struck through (and retained) copper debris.
