I purchased this coin at the Long Beach Show. Don't worry, it was PCGS problem free certified, which I promptly cracked to put in my 7070(photographs taken before and after). Anyways, how would you grade her?

I'm thinking AU-55 because of the numerous abrasions. It's a very nice coin though.

Details wise AU-58, because of the marks on the obverse I agree with AU-55.

I really don't see any wear. The photos don't show luster well (although they are otherwise excellent!) but I suspect the luster is there. I wouldn't be surprised by an MS-61 grade (limited by abrasions/bag marks). If PCGS decided it didn't make the MS cut they should have given it an AU-58.

Nice coin. Congratulations! What dealer did you purchase it from, and what are your impressions of the Long Beach show?

PCGS did give it an AU-55, probably due to the abrasions; but I do agree that the details are stronger than that grade.

The Long Beach show was my first coin show believe it or not. Most of my purchases were either online or at coin shops. I thought it was great overall, and it amazed me how many high-end coins are just casually lying around. I'm sure the security was great, but I think I would be nervous if I were a dealer bringing a half million dollars worth of coins into a crowded building...;-) The amount and value of quality coins there was overwhelming...I was floating on cloud 9 the whole day browsing.

I don't remember the name of the dealer I bought this coin from, but I spent several hours looking at certified AU Trade dollars, and this was by far the best bang for the buck. There is a HUGE variable in price from dealer to dealer, so it pays to look around for several hours before buying anything. I was overall very pleased with the show, and I can't wait for the next big Long Beach show. I made 2 other purchases for my collection in which I will be posting.

Thanks for the comments!

This shot I took before removing the slab captures the luster a bit better.
