Does anyone know the weight and/or how many millimeters tall the coin is? It's an interesting coin but I'm not familiar with it. If the value is listed in a book, I'd appreciate knowing where to draw the line on the bid price.

Thanks guys,

Jen

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Sweden one of the countries that do not use EUROS?

That's right! They use the Krona. Odd, isn't it. As far as I know, Sweden opted to stay with their own currency, rather than switch over to the Euro, much like England and the Pound.

So what is place animal I'm bidding on?

There was no such thing as a "euro" in 1996. Prior to 1999, the theoretical European currency was known as the ECU, or European Currency Unit. So whatever this "coin" is, it almost certainly wasn't made in 1996.

You think it's counterfeit? I've done business with the vendor before and he's always been reliable and he has a good rating.

It's a mystery, I suppose.

It's not in any of the Krause books?

Well it's sterling silver so there's a start.

If anyone does found a catalog value don't take it to heart just yet. There are numerous times where the "book value" of a coin is Far from the going price.

Take for example the Marshall Islands $50 coins. Krause has them listed as a high dollar coin and some still believe them t be worth face value but in all reality they normally sell for a few dollars over spot.....or right at spot.

Once you can find the dimensions of this "coin" I'd only bid spot and no more unless you Really like the design of the coin.

I'm betting it will go for right around double spot. They only thing I ever buy is one ounce silver .925 or above, at least 37 millimeters in diameter, preferably proofs but almost always uncirculated. Unfortunately, it's virtually impossible to buy coins that fit this description for spot on ebay. Heck, today I tried to buy the coin below but came up a dollar short.

Guess how much it went for?

This is a token made by a private company trying to make a profit form the euro hype.
There is also a lot of these "trial coins" in Denmark, even thou we also said no to the euro.

No; a counterfeit is an imitation of a real coin. There has never been a "real coin" with this design, so it's classified as a "fantasy".

Such fantasies are normally listed in the "Unusual World Coins" book, published by Krause as a supplement to the "regular" coin catalogue. However, this coin isn't currently listed in this book, either; it's an unrecorded fantasy.

Hellon Traevin,
it used to sell for $ 120 Canadian, but is hard to get now. It isd called sapahire crystall
and uses real swarovski crystalls and saphires
so probably it went for around 160?
minytage is 7500.
However, I might be wrong with my info....it is just the last I knew..
next time , bid higher,,,,,,

It went for a hair under $100US. What's that $120-130 Canadian? The exchange rate's been angling upward lately, making it harder for me to get great deals from Colonial Acres, unfortunately.
