Picked up a bunch of 1954 notes from my bank today.

These two stood out:

$1.00 B-R Three digit Radar

$2.00 B-C Devils Face

How do you do it?
One and two dollar notes are no longer legal tender, banks are supposed to return all of them to the BOC.

@DBM, every time I go into a branch I ask if they have any old bills/mutilated. Some branches say they can take them in but they can't give them out. Others let me go through their stash and others go through them in the back and bring out all of the paper notes for me to go through. I have 3 branches that call me if anything comes in and another 8 branches that will sell them to me when I ask.

I find it all depends on the manager of the branch. Some have a strict policy and ship everything and others let me buy some. Same goes for pennies etc. I have gone back to branches that have told me no in the past and they get a new manager and that one lets me go through them and buy some.

And of course, it really helps to have a good relationship with the head teller (donuts etc.).

It is who you know and how you treat them.
