Picked up an interesting 1971-D Eisenhower dollar that looks like maybe a Greaser error — the "I" in IN GOD WE TRUST is completely missing. There seems to be some PMD also. Following the contour of the edge of the coin, there is a smooth band that seems to start where the "I" is supposed to be and travels through the "L" in Liberty, but does not affect the "L" as well as around the coin.
The last 2 photos, the coin is in the same position and same zoom, only the light has changed to maybe better detect what maybe going on.

It's a nice example of a Greaser.

Correct, what you have is a minor Grease Filled Die.
Not enough to warrant a premium but keep it if you like as an example.
It is also best if you were to show a complete photo of each side when posting.
This can sometimes help with a diagnosis.

I took the feedback and continued my research on this error and it appears to be only affecting the obverse:

"Grease" (die fill) Error - Grease-mediated radial smear; Obverse: Missing "I" from "IN GOD WE TRUST." Peripheral design weakness.

Does that sound good? I am logging into a spreadsheet for future use by my kids and grandkids. I took the description from Error-Ref.

"Grease mediated radial smear" describes a situation wherein the presence of grease pushes or "smears" the design elements outward away from the center.

I don't see any smearing of elements, only the interference with the striking fully of the I, so I would classify this as only a minor Grease Filled Die.

I do see potential die wear on the the tops of LIB and a few radial flow lines, but don't see any obvious "smearing"".
