Is that considered an era or just die chip?vapurv face value,? I'm only trying to keep coubs that are growing over time.For my granddaughter's

It's considered a die event. It's something that happens to the die during its lifetime striking coins. It's only worth face value. A Die Chip has to be huge in order to carry a premium over face value.

I don't look at dimes very often, but when I do..., they seem to have a lot of die chips!
IMO, it would need to be very dramatic to bother keeping

Nice chips. Of course, the more extreme the chips, the more collectable a coin would be--in most cases. There are a few fanatical collectors of die chip examples out there who would pay a bit more than face value for the coin in question. Again, the more extreme/pronounced, the better.
