Hello Everyone
I'm not good at "spread / extra thick" , so I need your input.
Yes, there is circulation flattening and some Die Deterioration going on.
BUT, it looks interesting, especially on the reverse. Closest I could find (with D mint mark) was a "Distorted and Distended Hub Doubling" for 1981D on Brian's (His listing for 1980P is also somewhat similar to this)

So what are your thoughts? Set aside for attribution, or not?

I agree with extreme Die Deterioration. The letters have a cool shape, though. I could see where it should be checked for a doubled die, but that melted texture says DDD all the way.

Incidentally, I have examples of both 1981-D WDDR-001 and WDDR-002. They have classic split serifs at the usual locations, even in mint state.
