None exist for that year. It could be crud in the mint mark.

Not exactly sure what it is but it can't be a D/S mint mark.
If there was the slightest possibility there was such a OMM,
with the hundreds of thousands minted from that die.
I'm sure it would have been discovered by now.

For the record--by numismatic definition--' Cuds' are features associated with a coin's rim. The feature within the mint mark might be (might be...) a die chip issue.

I would say E&V nailed it. If you were to give it a little soak in acetone or rinsed with diluted water, the "S" would disappear.

Well, considering that the mint did NOT produce any dimes from San Francisco from 1956 to 1967, that would preclude any possibility of a D over S MM minted in 1964.
Proofs during that time were produced in Philly

Thank you for your advise, since it is not a one of a kind, retire now kind of coin. I cleaned it real good and took some closer pictures.
