Hi everyone! I came across this 2022 Jovita Idár quarter and noticed a few things that made me curious if it might be an error coin.
• Weight: 5.14 grams (measured on a digital scale)
• Standard weight for this coin is 5.67 g, so it's noticeably lighter
• The coin is extremely worn on both sides—much of the lettering and details are faded
• Edge still appears intact, but the coin looks like it may have environmental or circulation damage
I'm trying to figure out if this could be:
• A real mint error such as a thin planchet or lamination issue
• Or just post-mint damage or metal loss from long-term wear, corrosion, or ground exposure
I've attached photos and a picture of it on the scale for reference.
Any opinions or guidance from experienced collectors would be really appreciated. Thank you!
