It looks like all of the coins have been changed out. They are not 1966.

Exactly!! With silver coins to boot. That's why I picked it up. There's not much interest in the 1966 SMS. Seller's fault for not looking at the coins.

Knowledge always rules. Unless there are MANY more less knowledgeable, then it can be an issue. Nice catch!

Could be. The coins except for the half appear to be proofs as well but I'll when I get it in.

It's possible. No other SMS sets or other sets that look like SMS were in the auction and this seller runs weekly auctions. For the most part, you are bidding on what you see and not what is written. I have seen date mismatches before and the photos were always what was received. There have been times a mis-listing was removed from an auction but must be done before the auction closes.

Here is another from the auction that the description didn't match the photos. So, I got a 1921 cent which I didn't have one before.

If they aren't what is pictured, the company that operates the auction site is literally 2 miles away from me.

If you got the pictured set for the price of a 1966 SMS you did well. The dime is 1965, but the half and quarter are 1964.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures
