very nice images! I like the comparison to the 2 coins of the BIE area, it sure looks like the die crack is the same as the outline of the BIE - so we call it a "Pre-BIE" ?

Great post and great coins  I had to go back and look at the first two images again, I'd thought they were of the same one at first look, they line up so well.

Fantastic find @CoinHI !!
I love finding progressions, and am always looking for Pre-BIEs, especially for 1955-S, my favorite year for Lincoln Cents.
I agree, your example with Pre-BIE and also exhibiting the distinctive die crack indicates an issue with the CoC listing. JC should look back at the coin used for 002A photos and double check for die crack. It looks like that coin might be circulated and the crack may have been worn or something. I'll have to look at my examples, but your photos seem definitive that even in the Pre-BIE stage the crack was present.
