Another from dad's collection. Authenticity is the main concern here. The condition is a bit rough. Noticeable scratch on the cheek and other areas on the reverse. As well as the rim damage about 10K or so on reverse. What are your thoughts?

Looks genuine on a quick glance. Worth slabbing even as a details piece?

Looks like a genuine VAM-2. I'd say VG-8, perhaps a bit stronger on the reverse. At this level of wear, the minor scratches would likely get a pass, but the rim dent might detail it. Still, a nice original circulation cameo effect, and a very nice coin!

Looks genuine, no need to grade it.

any CC is good imo. if you look close at the two scratches on face they are showing white metal. this means the scratches were post toning and may have happened after your dad acquired it. compare those to the one horizontal across the jaw and you can see the difference.

I agree with Zurie regarding straight grading however since they are newer they probably would detail the coin along with the rim hit at K10 rev.

VG8

the 89CC only has a low mintage of 350,000. as a details coin probably $500+. Straight graded as high as $1000. you know me when it comes to slabbing I'm not a fan except for rarer or high grade coins with higher valuations. in this case this coin will on increase in value. the fact that it has a good shot at straight grading I would suggest sending this one in. if you are not inclined to do that and never plan on selling it, I would place her in an airtite to protect it.
