I have a nice 1943 and I am trying to figure out what is happening with the date. It looks like doubling but I am not sure. There is no listing for a 1943 DDO. So am I looking for something that is not there?

I don't know if it's the lighting or images, but your coin looks reprocessed. The date could be showing Die Deterioration Doubling.

A doubled die would not show spread on both sides of the devices.
This can be caused by Die Deterioration. Look at the edge to see if it
has been plated which also could cause this effect.

Agree with all above. Yes, does appear to be a replated '43. End-on rim photo would be good to see.
