Another fish that got away. Last night, I was looking to upgrade the 1820 half dollar in my capped bust set. This was bid to $840 with a 20 seconds to go in the auction. I put in a bid of $1,200 with a few seconds left. At least seven other bidders came in, and when the dust settled 5 seconds later the winner emerged, buying it for $2,177. Not even close. What do you think this grades? It needed to be AU53 or greater for my $1,200 bid to make sense. Other thoughts? Thanks!

Odd hammer price.
Too much for an AU, not near enough for an MS.

Looks like a nice, original AU-58. $1200 would have been a nice buy.

i cant see any lower than 55. shes right on the AU58 cusp. I think the reverse would push it over the line. quite a nice example
