For those that get the American Innovation Dollars P&D sets off of ebay, do you pay for the whole pre-release 8 coin 4 shipment set or do you just get them by design as they get closer to being released?

I'm leaning towards just getting them as they are closer to being released. That way I don't have to worry about the seller just disappearing and I can better track them. I would just have to make sure I place the order before they sell out (not likely but for some reason the Steve Jobs is suppose to be popular).

I wait for all 4 to be released (or just before the last one is available) and buy the whole set at once in a single lot.

I buy the entire 8 coins with a 'subscription' and the seller sends them automatically as he get the rolls and bags from the mint. I have been using the same seller for 3 years now (2026 will be the 4th)

Do you mind if I ask, which seller did you go through Dearborn? You can email me if you'd rather not say on here.

I buy them as they're released from whoever has them cheapest. Now granted I'm only saving a few cents...

I've been buying the 8 coin sets once the final one is released, so far below $20 which I think is reasonable. For what it's worth, nearly all have been MS65-66 quality based on my personal strict standards.

I only collect proof and reverse proof. Looks like I might be cutting my purchases in half next year.

Maybe a dumb question, but is there a specific reason not to just get them from the US Mint? (I subscribe)

The Mint only sells them in rolls or bags. So at $36.25 for a 25 coin roll, I would have to buy a roll of the P and a roll of the D when I only want one of each. It's just cheaper for me and then I don't end up with a bunch of coins I don't really want or have to try and sell myself for not much profit from the Mint's markup and ebay fees and shipping.

Hope that makes sense.

It does, and mea culpa that I get the proof / reverse proof sets and not the business strikes. Doh!
