For each of the past few years, I've taken a look at the "Anniversaries of Significance" for Canada (per the Canadian Government) with an eye toward potential subjects for the Mint's coins. In 2026, the Government of Canada has selected the following for recognition: - 25th anniversary of Canada's response to the September 11, 2001, attacks - 25th anniversary of space mission STS-100: first spacewalk by a Canadian astronaut - 50th anniversary of Canada hosting its first Olympics - 75th anniversary of Canada's first Cold War NATO deployment to Europe - 100th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Legion - 150th anniversary of the passage of the Indian Act - 150th anniversary of Treaty 6 - 150th anniversary of the first phone call - 300th anniversary of the Peace and Friendship TreatiesFrom my perspective, the Royal Canadian Legion Centennial seems like the type of anniversary that would find its way onto a Silver Dollar. I can see the "the Peace and Friendship Treaties" theme being featured on a $20 coin. What are your thoughts? Have another important anniversary to be marked in 2026 that's worthy of a coin? @commens: I agree with you about the Royal Canadian Legion silver dollar. I suspect that there will be a number of plain & coloured toonies featuring: - 150th anniversary of the passage of the Indian Act - 150th anniversary of Treaty 6 and maybe - 300th anniversary of the Peace and Friendship Treaties on a 5 or 20 dollar 1 oz. silver bullion coin. The other topics, not so much. Just my Two Cents worth.(Can we say that when we no longer mint cents?)

What, no movie or cartoon characters? Is the RCM going to stick with events that have some Canadian relevance?

We should know the details of the Mint's first 2026 release in less than two weeks!

The treaties and Indian Act won't be commemorated, many regard. these as anniversaries of subjugation and betrayal. Bell had his coins in '97 and '22. A coin to celebrate the Mint's biggest fiasco ever, the '76 Olympic coins, interesting. Most of the others are pretty lame, so I'd say the Legion anniversary, 60 years of cheap beer for veteran's, followed by 40 years of trying to find their place after my father and other WWII vets quit drinking. Anything's possible? I hope so.

2026 marks 50 seasons for the Toronto Blue Jays. Seeing that we've had commemorative circulating coins celebrating the Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs and the Saskatchewan Roughriders for significant anniversaries I'm wondering if we'll get a Blue Jays coin. It doesn't hurt that they are the only Canadian MLB team, so are a team for the whole country. And given their recent surge in popularity I think this theme could engage new collectors and the younger generation. Thoughts?

I think that is a great idea. Although, play did not start until the 1977 season and that might make 2027 a better fit.

Yes, the Royal Canadian Legion Centennial is the design theme for the annual commemorative Silver Dollar.
The coin's Issue Price has certainly taken a jump vs. last year!
