1956 D Penny Lincoln Lost His Eye And Nose

Steve K Valued Member United States 108 Posts	Posted 12/20/2025 10:50 am I have a 1956 D penny I received in a box of old coins 30 years ago. One coin was a 1956 D penny that is in good condition but Lincoln has no eye and part of his nose is missing. There is just a cavity. On the other side of the penny there is a bulge where the cavity is. It appears to be a mint error as the penny is brown and the cavity is also brown. I need to know if this is rare or common and worth having it graded and verified as a mint error. In any case Lincoln does look odd in this condition. Thanks for all the help on this. Looks like the damage happened after minting. Now another question since the coin is junk it is still worth a cent. Should I put it back in circulation by spending it or trash it?
