Damage of some sort, what caused doesn't really matter and unless
you were there at the time you would probably never know exactly what.

If it is raised, then there is probably some glue like substance on it. Try soaking in pure acetone for 24 hours and see if it removes it.

I'd say glue as well, especially on Regina.

I will try the Acetone, but it sure looks like its part of the coin.
