I've had 22-D cent swimming around in the mix for years that appears quite a bit smaller in o.d. and overall profile than what seems to be the norm. Had a few people awhile back say it was a "dryer penny"..."it was worn down and shrunk that way", not so sure about all that but I do appreciate the effort...lol.
Looking around again today for some other wild & crazy possibilities as to why? Struck on a planchet meant for another coin? Thoughts? Thank for any other ideas.

Strange. I don't see any signs of it going through a dryer. I'm honestly not sure why it's smaller.

Being struck on a wrong planchet would not change the size as it is
the collar that dictates the size and yours is fully struck.
Not the best of pictures to tell but I would say that your 1922D is a
counterfeit which could account for the difference in size.

I'm thinking counterfeit as well. A full, large and sharp pic of the reverse might shed more light on the matter. Thanks.

Something seems off, fake? Maybe let's see the reverse and weigh it.

I didn't say it, but I was thinking a counterfeit as well.

If this cent is likely deemed a counterfeit given its profile then I see no sense in wasting anymore time with it, but I do want to thank all of you for taking the time provide your kind responses!

Thank you and Happiest New Year!

Good morning/ afternoon!
Had a chance today to weigh this 1922-D Lincoln Wheat cent with an under the standard normal sized planchete if anyone was interested or curious.
Weighed in at 3.09 grams.
