This is a fun one, although the coin itself has issues. The coin is struck on a split planchet, coming in at 1.48g. But as soon as I saw it I noticed the strong 19 in the date and was thinking DDO-001. It's not totally obvious from the date, as that year had a lot of non-DDO coins with thicker numbers in the date, but the stage B die markers around LIBERTY are clearly shown in the obverse photo proving it to be FS-101. 1959 Lincoln Memorial cent doubled die mint error - DDO-001, FS-101 struck on a split planchet

Awesome coin! A variety and an error, all in one.

Fascinating example, and impressive that you can identify it.

Very cool twofer and great that you could identify the DDO, the die scratches are undeniable! You can also see the small die chip at the lower end of the 1 and "strip" chip at the upper part of the 1 along with the chipping around the 9.

Thanks! And yes it is pretty lucky that the two essential devices are actually the ones on the coin that are clearly visible. Most of it is wiped out from the light strike on the thin planchet.
And I don't know that the coin has had all that rough of a life. It is uncirculated and the vertical scratches down the center on each side were probably from the mint machinery. Other than improper handling by some ill-informed collector it's probably just sat in storage most of its life.

Neat find, I like it! Quote: And I don't know that the coin has had all that rough of a life. With error coins it is far more often about eye appeal than grade. And while this one isn't too awful to the naked eye, it's very much lacking in the eye appeal category when viewed up close in all its glory. I've seen more than a few like this, really cool errors that just kinda make you cringe a bit.
